Cute as a Bug Fan-fold card |
|
A fun fan-fold / bow-style card front that shows off both sides of designer series paper, with a dimensional focal point in the center.
Supplies Needed
Card base: 5 ½" x 8 ½", scored at 4 ¼"
Designer Series Paper (DSP): 6" x 6"
Front mat: 4 1/8 " x 5 3/8"
Inside mat: 5 1/4" x 4"
Stamps, dies, ink, and coloring tools for focal point
Optional: twine, clear gems or rhinestones
Step 1: Cut the Designer Series Paper
Start with a 6" x 6" piece of DSP.
Turn paper so the top of the pattern is on the left.
Cut down to 5 ¼" and save the excess strip.
Turn paper upright and cut one piece at 2 ½" wide.
Cut the remaining piece at 1 ¾" wide.
You will have three DSP pieces total.
Step 2: Adhere Center DSP
Adhere the 2 1/2" DSP piece to the middle of the front mat, leaving a small border at the top and bottom.
Add the side flaps by applying glue only to the outer edge of each piece (left & right).
Step 3: Create Fan Folds
Place bone folder at the edge of the center DSP.
Hold flap down and fold corner backward to the outer edge.
Burnish the fold.
Repeat for all flaps to create a fan or bow effect.
Step 4: Secure the Flaps
Add one dimensional under each outer corner of the folded flaps and press gently to secure.
Step 5: Create the Focal Point
Stamp, color, and die-cut images and sentiment.
Arrange pieces in the center of the fan folds and
adhere using dimensionals for depth.
Adhere the completed panel to the card base.
Add the inside mat for a written message.
Embellish!
